Usman Khan, UAE’s Pakistan-born top-order batter, has been called to Pakistan’s training camp, possibly indicating a move to represent his birth country.
Even though Usman currently plays for the UAE, his participation in the camp suggests Pakistan’s interest in him. There’s a great chance of his selection for the T20I series against New Zealand and the T20 World Cup. The camp, running from March 26 to April 8, includes 28 other players such as Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, and Haris Rauf.
Big Picture Behind Usman Khan’s Selection
In the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024, the top-order batter played as an overseas player for the Multan Sultans and finished as the second-highest run-scorer.
The Pakistan Cricket Board did not specify why Usman Khan was included in the camp. According to the latest updates, Usman still has the option to switch back to Pakistan and has not yet represented the UAE cricket team.
